Faculty have a shared responsibility with students and Disability Services for Students (DSS) staff to implement classroom accommodations. Accommodations are provided to ensure equity in the classroom so all students have a level playing field for academic success.
DSS staff is here to support students and faculty in the pursuit of classroom equity. DSS staff collects disability documentation, selects appropriate and effective accommodations, and advocates for students with disabilities. They also help faculty understand necessary accommodations and provide resources so faculty can integrate the accommodations in their classroom.
Disability Services for Students is offering a free professional development opportunity for CCRI faculty and staff this fall – a semester-long hybrid course addressing accessibility, disability and culture.
