CCRI’s Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Club is hosting the Smirky Strong Stroll at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Lincoln Woods (meet at beach parking lot).
The goal is to raise funds in to endow a scholarship in memory of Kathleen (Szczsponik) Menard. This scholarship will be awarded to students within the MLT program, based upon the professional qualities that Menard embodied during her education at CCRI and career in the laboratory.
Menard graduated from the MLT program in 1994, where she then trained at Kent County Hospital. Upon graduation she continued her career at Miriam Hospital, East Side Clinical Laboratory, Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Kent County Hospital and Dominion Diagnostics. During late summer of 2016 she was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer, and sadly passed away on Sept. 6, 2016.
