I’m pleased to announce that Dr. Hilary Jansson assumed the role of interim dean of Health and Rehabilitative Sciences on May 28.
Dr. Jansson, who joined CCRI in 1995, has been serving as interim assistant dean of Nursing Education since February 2016. In this capacity, she has served a critical role in the Executive Office of Health and Human Services’ initiative for Healthcare Workforce Transformation.
As department chair of Level 2 Nursing from 2011-16, she participated in developing new nursing curriculum that received extremely positive recognition from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). She also taught in the Health Care Interpreting certificate program as well as the online course Transition to Baccalaureate Nursing Education. In 2011, she received the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award.
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Rhode Island and her doctorate in education – curriculum and instruction from the University of Connecticut. Her area of specialty is medical-surgical nursing.
She belongs to the following professional organizations: American Nurses Association; National League of Nurses; Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, Delta Upsilon Chapter; the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing; and the Rhode Island State Nurses Association.
