Professional Development Day registration is open

Registration is open for CCRI’s 15th Annual Professional Development Day on Friday, March 31. Visit the Professional Development Day website to view the full list of workshops. Click on the “Register” link in the left column to sign up for the sessions you would like to attend by Tuesday, March 28.

Professional Development Day is for the entire CCRI community so, regardless of your position or campus location, you’re encouraged to participate. This year’s workshops cover a wide range of topics, from pedagogical and academic to ways to better support student persistence, customer service and more – there’s something for everyone.

The opening session will include remarks from President Hughes and keynote provided by Gregory C. Elliott, Ph.D., professor of sociology at Brown University. Elliot is a social psychologist whose areas of teaching and research address two fundamental questions of human concern: “Who am I?” and “Where do I fit in?” His presentation will focus on the causes and consequences of mattering as it relates to making a difference in the lives of others. The closing session will feature keynote Mike Cross, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry at Northern Essex Community College. Cross didn’t need to supplement his doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Utah with an associate degree in liberal arts, but he did just that – going undercover to learn about the challenges his students face in pursuing higher education. Hear Cross speak on his experience as “The Undercover Professor.” The full schedule of events can be found online.

If you are presenting at a workshop, please be sure to register for breakfast and/or lunch, if appropriate. If you are not able to attend, please indicate that on the registration page as well. This will help to ensure that the appropriate amount of food is ordered.

All CCRI classes (credit and noncredit) scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 31 are canceled and offices at all campuses will be closed. The normal class schedule will resume at 4 p.m. All college offices will reopen on Monday, April 3.

Please be sure to sign up soon to ensure that you don’t miss out on your first choices, as some workshops have limited seating. Confirmation emails will be sent during the week of March 27 and will include room locations for your selections.
